K.V. Kuppam is in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India, situated inland to the west of Madras, roughly half way between Madras and Bangalore. The nearest place you will probably find on a map is Vellore. |

Several villages make up the administrative
district of K.V. Kuppam,although a large and bustling place, it is very rural in culture and outlook. |

The only other employment in the area is subsistence farming. |

There is a long tradition of hand-weaving in the area.
We are now able to provide employment for up to 300 weavers. |

Many of the tailors and hand finishers are women, as their earnings are equal to the men their income allows them to provide for their families. A job with the tailoring societies is highly valued and a larger number of tailors have worked with us for many years.

We provide a crèche at the new factory and there are both primary and secondary schools in the village.
Many youngsters now travel to Vellore and other cities for further education. Families will pool resources and borrow heavily to make this possible. |
