All natural fabrics will show some fading depending on how much sunshine they are exposed to and the type of detergents used. We can only recommend that you use an environmentally friendly
liquid detergent which does not contain any bleaching agents, and will not damage the colours. If you use big brand detergents you should read the instructions and make sure they are suitable for natural fabrics. Some colour care detergents are only formulated for synthetics and will harm coloured cotton. Unbleached cotton has had no colour added and will naturally lighten.
Handwoven cotton and silk have irregularities which are part of their character and will not affect their strength.
The handwoven cotton has been pre-shrunk so there is no need to make allowances for this.
It should be ironed with a hot steam iron after washing for best results as unironed fabric will appear smaller.
The knitted cotton should be re-shaped while damp and allowance has been made for a little shrinkage.
Dark colours should be washed with other dark colours. Sunlight can cause fading so dry indoors or turn inside out. Both noil silk and batik should be hand washed in liquid specifically recommended for silk and
do not hang outdoors as this will cause colour loss. Otherwise everything else can be machine washed at 30C or 40C . We do not recommend hand washing of our fabrics which are better machine washed. Make sure the heavy denim is
turned inside out and has plenty of room in the machine.
